Liebe Kolleg*innen, mittlerweile steht das Programm der OAI14 weitgehend, und die (kostenfreie) Registrierung ist geöffnet. Ich hoffe, die Online-Konferenz findet auch in Deutschland wieder starkes Interesse. Viele Grüße Marco OAI14 – Open Science in a changing world The 14th OAI Workshop will take place online 10-14 November 2025. This event is a premier global event on Open Science in the year in which it is held. The theme of OAI14 is Open Science in a changing world. Speakers and talks are added to the program continuously as soon as they are confirmed. Make sure to go to this page to get the latest info. - https://oai.events/oai14 . The registration form to register for the conference is also available here. Registration is free and open to anyone across the globe. Session 1 on 10 November is devoted to Research Security and Openness. The shifting geopolitical climate, marked by protectionism, restricted mobility, and disinformation, necessitates a critical reassessment of how Open Science can coexist with growing security concerns. Session 2 on 11 November is on Open Infrastructures. This session has contributions from open infrastructure organisations that facilitate the storage and availability of research outputs. They will discuss the challenge in achieving sustainability, and the infrastructure needs of regions in which they operate. Session 3 on 12 November looks at Navigating AI in Open Science. What is the impact of AI in the Open Science landscape? What are the challenges and benefits it brings? Session 4 on 13 November considers Commercialization and Open Science. When many research-performing organisations strongly encourage entrepreneurship, how does this fit with Open Science? What is the view of commercial providers on Open Science? And with new models such as Diamond Open Access, what is the financial model which should underpin it? Session 5 on 14 November looks at Research Integrity. Research integrity is increasingly at stake: retractions for scientific misconduct are worryingly growing on a daily basis, paper mills are flourishing, reproducibility is in crisis, and it seems to be strictly connected to the current research assessment criteria. The widespread misuse of generative AI is squaring the issue. How can how Open Science practices help get back to the “fundamentals” of research, which is “show me” and not “trust me” In addition to the conference, this year we are supporting satellite events worldwide (https://oai.events/oai14/satellite-events) . As well as joining us live, consider sharing the conference with your local community by organising or attending a satellite event. We warmly invite you to take part. Registration is now open at: www.open-science-conference.eu<http://www.open-science-conference.eu> This year's conference focuses on the intersection of Open Science and Artificial Intelligence. As AI-based tools become increasingly integrated into research processes, new opportunities arise - along with important questions concerning transparency, reproducibility and reusability. Across ten discussion and solution sessions as well as 22 posters and demos, the conference provides space for exchange and critical reflection. An additional session will be dedicated to the current safeguarding research movement. The Open Science Conference brings together researchers, data stewards, infrastructure and library professionals, policymakers, and others engaged in open science practices. Oktober 2025 wird im Rahmen der internationalen Open Access Week mit Interessierten aus Wisssenschaft, Verwaltung, Zivilgesellschaft sowie Kunst und Kultur diskutiert, welche Synergien, Initiativen und Vernetzungen den Berliner Wissensraum weiter öffnen und stärken können. Hierfür gibt es drei Formate: Impulsvortrag Mit einer Keynote der Architektin und Stadtforscherin Dagmar Pelger wollen wir einen ersten Überblick über die verschiedenen Domänen erhalten und Impulse zu aktuellen Herausforderungen und Zukunftsperspektiven für offenes Wissen in Berlin geben. Barcamp / Offenes Labor: Die Teilnehmenden setzen selbstständig Themen, stellen Projekte vor und diskutieren Kooperationsansätze. Ziel ist es, potenzielle Synergien zu nutzen und bestehende Aktivitäten weiterzuentwickeln. Again, we are planning two sessions where we will dive deeply into the topics that are of burning interest to us all. We cordially invite you to join our 9th Open Science Retreat that will be held virtually on 23 & 24 September 2025, 16:00-18:00 CET. It is dedicated to the theme “Diamond OA: Utopian Dream or the Only Fair Future?” Diamond Open Access has gained increasing attention in recent years as a community-led, equitable model for scholarly publishing that aligns closely with the principles of Open Science. But is Diamond Open Access the long-awaited solution for equitable scholarly publishing – or merely an idealistic vision? This retreat critically explores the promises and limitations of Diamond OA, its role in advancing Open Science, and the role of the scientific community in the success of the model. A view on financing models and a spotlight on successful Diamond OA initiatives will provide practical insights into key success factors and persistent challenges. To guide our discussions, we propose the following questions: * What can the contribution of Diamond OA be to addressing current challenges in scholarly publishing and where does its potential end? * What are effective strategies, recommendations, and lessons learnt for implementing Diamond OA models in line with Open Science principles? * What policy and infrastructure conditions are necessary to ensure Diamond OA can flourish? Liebe Kolleg:innen, am 30.06.2025 organisierte das Projekt PID Network Deutschland, an dem auch das Helmholtz Open Science Office beteiligt ist, das Online-Seminar "PIDs für Software". Dabei beleuchteten wir verschiedene Aspekte hinsichtlich der Dokumentation und Nutzung von Software. Neben einer Einführung in nationale und internationale Initiativen zum Umgang mit Forschungssoftware, ging es auch um praktische Herausforderungen und Lösungsansätze.
