Save the date: Open Science Conference 2025 // October 8-9, Hamburg
by Scherp, Guido 18 Nov '24

18 Nov '24
-- apologies for cross-posting - Dear colleagues, Please save the date for the Open Science Conference 2025: October 8-9, Hamburg The Open Science Conference is an annual international conference dedicated to the Open Science movement. It provides a unique forum for researchers, data stewards, librarians, practitioners, infrastructure providers, policy makers, and other important stakeholders to discuss the latest and future developments in Open Science. In 2025, the conference returns to its roots and takes place as a face-to-face event in Hamburg again. This year's conference will have a special focus on the intersection between Open Science and AI. The rapid integration of artificial intelligence and corresponding tools into scientific research poses both new challenges but also opportunities for Open Science practices. This requires a reflection on how this can be aligned with transparency, accessibility, reproducibility, and reusability as core principles of Open Science. Stay tuned for more information here: https://www.open-science-conference.eu We look forward to seeing you next year in Hamburg! Persistent Identifiers for and in NFDI – PID4NFDI Stakeholder Workshop (11.11.2024)
by Marc Lange 06 Nov '24

06 Nov '24
Dear all, PID4NFDI – the basic service for persistent identifiers (PIDs) in development for the German National Research Data Infrastructure (Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur – NFDI) – is organizing a stakeholder workshop with the objective of gathering insights from participants regarding their experiences with PID implementation and usage. This workshop will serve as a platform for representatives from NFDI consortia, international initiatives, projects, and other interested parties to share their perspectives on current practices and explore potential improvements in PID services. Date: 11 November 2024 09:00 — 12:30 Location: online (Zoom) More information and registration: https://events.hifis.net/event/1783/ ————— Full event description: Persistent identifiers (PIDs) are central to FAIR research data management making data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. They allow broad interlinking of data, metadata and resources, and are thus crucial for research and open science. However, different disciplines and resources reflect the complexity of implementing PIDs across various research fields. PID4NFDI is the basic service for persistent identifiers (PIDs) in development for the German National Research Data Infrastructure (Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur – NFDI). Efforts are currently underway to build a basic service based on established PID infrastructures to provide various PID-related services to NFDI stakeholders. The different stages of implementation of PIDs by the various NFDI consortia illustrate the ongoing progress and obstacles encountered by the basic service PID4NFDI. Therefore, PID4NFDI is organizing a stakeholder workshop with the objective of gathering insights from participants regarding their experiences with PID implementation and usage. This workshop will serve as a platform for representatives from NFDI consortia, international initiatives, projects, and other interested parties to share their perspectives on current practices and explore potential improvements in PID services. We invite all stakeholders from international and national initiatives and projects, especially representatives of NFDI consortia and sections, to join us on November 11, 2024, for this collaborative opportunity to discuss strategies for enhancing PID implementation and the support services offered by PID4NFDI. ————— Feel free to forward to interested parties. Reminder: 4. / 12.11.2024, 16-17 Uhr
by Scherp, Guido 04 Nov '24

04 Nov '24
Moin zusammen, ein kurzer Reminder zur 4. EOSC Coffee Lecture.
