I can second the recommendation of Gavin Adams, Um Diário das Ruas 2015-2018. At 1.255 pages it’s not a quick answer to what has happened in Brazil but a rich archive for researching that question.

Olá à todos, alguém poderia dar um sinal de vida pra saber se a lista está funcionando? :) Depois de nosso encontro achei que seria uma boa idéia baixar todos os dados abertos publicados pelo Ibama, vai saber quanto tempo os dados continuarão disponíveis e não modificados. Basicamente fiz alguns scripts em Python pra baixar todos os datasets do site https://www.ibama.gov.br/dados-abertos. Ao todo, os dados são mais que 18Gb e ainda não decidi onde é o melhor local pra fazer um mirror. Alguns dos datasets incluem multas por estado, incluindo CPF/CNPJ do multado, valor da multa e tipo da infração. Ainda não tive tempo de analisar os dados, mas explorá-los usando Jupyter notebook (https://jupyter.org/) já seria um primeiro passo interessante. Se alguém tiver interesse em trabalhar em conjunto com os dados só dar um sinal. Podemos criar um repositório no Gitlab/Github e iniciar algo. Abraços! Ibama data is probably among the most vulnerable. So this is excellent work! In the same line of thought, the Internet Archive (IA) is making an effort of saving any kind of web content to the WayBackMachine: Backing up Brazil’s internet so Bolsonaro can’t censor it https://www.cjr.org/the_new_gatekeepers/brazil-archive-bolsonaro-censorship.... I can second the recommendation of Gavin Adams, Um Diário das Ruas 2015-2018. At 1.255 pages it’s not a quick answer to what has happened in Brazil but a rich archive for researching that question.

Hi Volker, I have an account on the IA, but I don't know the fastest way to transfer all the data to it. It's not much, around 21Gb. You can ask them how would be the better way to do it. I'm finishing a project in the last weeks and I couldn't advance so much with the data, I just played a bit with the Ibama fines datasets but I'm planning to look deeper on February. Depois de nosso encontro achei que seria uma boa idéia baixar todos os dados abertos publicados pelo Ibama, vai saber quanto tempo os dados continuarão disponíveis e não modificados.
Basicamente fiz alguns scripts em Python pra baixar todos os datasets do site https://www.ibama.gov.br/dados-abertos. Ao todo, os dados são mais que 18Gb e ainda não decidi onde é o melhor local pra fazer um mirror.
Alguns dos datasets incluem multas por estado, incluindo CPF/CNPJ do multado, valor da multa e tipo da infração. Ainda não tive tempo de analisar os dados, mas explorá-los usando Jupyter notebook (https://jupyter.org/) já seria um primeiro passo interessante.
Se alguém tiver interesse em trabalhar em conjunto com os dados só dar um sinal. Podemos criar um repositório no Gitlab/Github e iniciar algo.

Edgar thankfully offered to set up a mailinglist at OKFN. Once it’s there, I’ll send invites to this Bcc-List to subscribe to list.
